5.8 GHz solution PDF Print E-mail

The license-free 5.8GHz band is pivotal in allowing small-to-medium players to enter the Wireless Broadband access market. Sloka’s low-cost, easy to deploy, 5.8GHz solution has been developed keeping these players in mind.

Key features such as Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) are incorporated in our base stations. This makes high quality reception possible at this frequency range by auto-avoidance of high interference frequencies.

In the license-free band deployment, one of the main cost factors for the WISPs is the AC housing required to house the indoor unit. Sloka’s base stations are completely outdoor units that can be installed directly on poles and walls, thus eliminating the main element of deployment costs.

Sloka’s base stations are equipped with auto-detect and auto-start and are very simple to install, thus making deployment of WiMAX networks very simple. Once deployed, the network elements can be remotely configured and upgraded using Sloka’s AAA/NMS solution, thus allowing scalable network deployment.

In Oct 2007, Sloka deployed France’s first 5.8GHz WiMAX network.

Medium power Base Stations for WiMAX

Sloka’s medium power Base Stations transmit at 24 dBm to the antenna. These units are ideal for far range and large subscriber network deployments. They are all-outdoor, weatherproof, sealed units for easy installation. They can be installed on towers, roof tops, walls, etc. Any external antenna can be attached to these units through an N type female connector. An Ethernet connection provides the connectivity to the network and also provides the Power over Ethernet capability through a power injector. These units are deployed for Enterprise Data Access in urban environments, Voice over IP, Cellular Backhaul and for residential internet and telephony access.

Sloka’s Pico Base Stations transmit at 18 dBm to the antenna. These units are ideal for near range and dense subscriber network deployments. They are all-outdoor, weatherproof, sealed units for easy installation. They can be installed on towers, roof tops, walls, etc. Any external antenna can be attached to these units through N type female connector. An Ethernet connection provides the connectivity network and also provides the Power over Ethernet capability through a power injector. These units are deployed for Enterprise Data Access in urban environments, Voice over IP, Cellular Backhaul and for residential internet and telephony access.
